Early Life

William Shakespeare is widely considered the most influential playwright and poet in the English language who had a tremendous impact on literature, theater, and culture worldwide.

Born in 1564 in the quaint town of Stratford-upon-Avon, England, William Shakespeare was the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. His father was a glove-maker who held several civic positions, making him a well-respected figure in the town. The elevated status of the family likely allowed Shakespeare to attend the local grammar school, where he was introduced to classical literature, including the works of Latin and Greek dramatists.

Marriage and Family

At the age of eighteen, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, a woman eight years his senior. The couple had three children: Susanna, their eldest, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Hamnet’s untimely demise at the age of eleven left a profound impact on Shakespeare and his later works.

He died in 1616 at the age of 52, but his legacy lives on through his timeless works, which continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
